Unidirectional structural reinforcement band 100% carbon fiber with epoxy resin made by pultrusion, high resistance.
Laminate, thanks to its high tensile strength, as well as its lightness and ease of use, makes it ideal as a structural reinforcement for elements of concrete, wood, steel, etc., which are subjected to tensile stress caused by by bending, which reduces deformations and cracking.

APPLICATIONS

  • Increase of the live load capacity in buildings and bridges, floors and roofs of buildings, etc.
  • Seismic rehabilitation of structural elements such as columns, unreinforced masonry walls, etc.
  • Repair of large diameter pipes to achieve reinforcement and waterproofing.
  • Repair of structural components damaged by aggressive environments, fire, vehicle impact, ageing, etc.
  • It requires minimal preparation.
  • Correction of design or construction errors: incorrectly placed rebars, insufficient structural depth.

ADVANTAGES

  • Very resistant and light strips ideal for small spaces.
  • It is used for bending and shear reinforcement.
  • High modulus of elasticity.
  • Fully compatible and excellent adhesion to epoxy resins
  • Not corrosive.
  • Available in any length, no joints required.
  • Excellent durability and resistance to fatigue.
  • The light weight minimizes the disturbance of mass and dynamic loads on the structure.
  • Alkali resistant.
  • Thin sections can easily be crossed and overlapped.

DURATION

Unlimited shelf life under proper storage conditions.

STORAGE CONDITIONS

Store in a dry place between 7º - 35ºC

COVERAGE

The application requires epoxy resin at the rate of 1 liter per 5.2 m of strip.

APPLICATION

The surface must be clean and solid; it may be dry or damp, but must be free of standing water and frost. Remove dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, disintegrated materials, and other materials inhabiting the surface joint. Existing uneven surfaces must be filled with a suitable repair mortar. The adhesive strength of the substrate should be verified after surface preparation using a random pull test (ACI 503R) at the discretion of the engineer. A minimum tensile strength of 200 psi (1.4 MPa) is required with substrate failure.
  1. Sandblast, shotblast, scarify, or use other approved mechanical means to clean the substrate surface. All sharp edges (ie fins, shape marks, etc.) should be sanded and smoothed.
  2. Clean the strip with a suitable cleaner (eg acetone) using a clean cloth.
  3. Apply epoxy resin on the support with a trowel or spatula up to a nominal thickness of 1.3 mm. A notched trowel can be used for this application.
  4. Apply eposi resin to the clean surface of the strip with a thickness of 1.3 mm. Within the open time of the epoxy, considering room temperature, place the coated strip on the substrate and press firmly. Use a stiff rubber roller and press the laminate into the epoxy until the adhesive comes out on both sides.
  5. Remove excess epoxy; the final thickness of the epoxy should not exceed 3 mm. The adhered strip should not be disturbed for 24 hours. Installation should only be performed by specially trained contractors.
* Strips can be cut to length with a commercial grade heavy duty shear. Care must be taken to support both sides of the strip to prevent splintering. Since dull or worn cutting tools can damage, weaken or fray the fiber, their use should be avoided.
